Choosing hurricane windows and doors in Sarasota comes down to matching the right product to your home, your exposure, and your project goals. There is no single “best” brand for every project. There are brands that fit different homes differently, and a good installer helps you figure out which one makes sense for yours.
Planning a full-home upgrade rather than a single window? See our Sarasota window replacement guide.
This is the 7-brand lineup we install most often across Sarasota, Siesta Key, Longboat Key, Casey Key, Bird Key, Lakewood Ranch, Bradenton, Osprey, and St. Petersburg. For each brand, we cover what it does well, which certifications to look for, and where we typically see it best fit.
Before you commit to any brand, always ask for the Florida Product Approval documentation for the specific configuration going into your home. The rating applies to the tested configuration, not to the brand name in general.

1. PGT Hurricane Windows and Doors
PGT has the broadest product range for Florida homes and the deepest history with Florida Product Approval documentation. After Hurricane Andrew in 1992, PGT was among the manufacturers that helped shape the Miami-Dade code requirements, which set the standard for hurricane protection in the state.

What PGT does well
PGT’s WinGuard line is the most commonly specified impact product in the Sarasota area. It covers a wide range of opening types (single-hung, casement, horizontal roller, sliding glass doors, French doors, and picture windows), and has tested configurations for most coastal exposure conditions. PGT also now includes the Sparta and Scout lines, formerly sold under CGI, which expand their range into more accessible price points. For the broader context on this change, see our CGI windows discontinued explainer and our Sparta by PGT overview.
Testing and certifications
PGT impact products carry Florida Product Approval and Miami-Dade Notice of Acceptance (NOA) on most configurations. That means they’ve been tested to ASTM E1886 and E1996 large missile impact standards, plus Miami-Dade TAS protocols 201, 202, and 203.
Where PGT typically fits best
Full-home impact projects where broad product compatibility matters. Both new construction and replacement work. Homes where Sparta makes sense for value-tier openings and WinGuard handles the more critical or larger openings. Learn more on our PGT product page.

2. Marvin Impact Windows and Doors
Marvin brings design flexibility and coastal capabilities to Sarasota-area projects. Their impact-rated products are now part of the Ultimate and Elevate collections, both designed for coastal exposure in Impact Zone 3, which covers most of the Sarasota area.
As of November 2025, Marvin discontinued their Coastline collection and no longer manufactures products for High Velocity Hurricane Zone (HVHZ) regions. For Sarasota-area projects outside HVHZ, Marvin Ultimate and Elevate impact products remain appropriate options.

What Marvin does well
Design flexibility across two impact-rated collections. Ultimate offers wood interiors with extensive customization across species, finishes, and configurations. Elevate uses Ultrex fiberglass exteriors for durability paired with natural wood interiors. Both collections are available with laminated impact glass and frames engineered for coastal exposure.
Testing and certifications
Marvin’s Ultimate and Elevate impact products are tested to meet Florida’s coastal codes for Impact Zone 3 regions. Their impact products also offer configurations that meet Sea Turtle Conservation Code requirements for beach-adjacent properties, which matters if your home is on a barrier island with nesting restrictions.
Where Marvin typically fits best
Custom homes, architectural renovations, and Sarasota-area coastal projects where IZ3 ratings apply. Homes where the architectural review board has specific requirements about frame profile, finish, or cladding. Learn more on our Marvin product page.
3. Kolbe Impact Windows and Doors
Kolbe specializes in custom-crafted windows and doors without visible brackets or anchors, which matters for homeowners doing design-forward renovations.

What Kolbe does well
Highly customizable impact-rated products with clean sightlines and no visible hardware. Their Ultra Series features aluminum-clad exteriors in 50+ standard colors and custom hues. Heritage Series offers all-wood construction for historically accurate details. Forgent Series uses a proprietary fiberglass-polymer hybrid for structural strength.
Testing and certifications
Many Kolbe impact products achieve IPD4 (Wind Zone 4) certification with DP65 impact ratings, suitable for Florida’s most severe hurricane-prone areas. Kolbe offers configurations tested for Zone 3, Zone 4, and HVHZ requirements.
Where Kolbe typically fits best
Custom homes and historical renovations where the visual details matter. Projects where the architect or homeowner wants a specific wood species, finish, or profile that standard lines don’t offer. Learn more on our Kolbe product page.
4. ESW Impact Windows and Doors
ESW (ES Windows) is manufactured by Tecnoglass, the same company that makes architectural glass for large commercial projects across the US. Their residential impact lines bring commercial-grade engineering to coastal Florida homes.
What ESW does well
Three distinct product lines: Prestige for luxury projects with frameless fixed windows and larger opening sizes, Elite for single-family homes wanting clean modern design with reliable impact performance, and Multimax for projects where value and consistency across many openings matter. All three meet HVHZ requirements and come standard with features built for coastal environments, including corrosion-resistant hardware and weather-resistant finishes.
Testing and certifications
ESW products are tested to Miami-Dade protocols and are Florida Product Approved. Elite uses heat-strengthened glass as standard. Prestige offers the industry’s only impact-rated frameless butt glass window, approved in corner configurations up to 90 degrees.
Where ESW typically fits best
Modern or architectural homes where clean profiles and large glass areas are priorities. Projects with non-standard opening shapes or sizes. Multi-family projects where consistency across many openings matters. Learn more on our ESW product page.
5. WinDoor Impact Windows and Doors
WinDoor builds premium windows and doors for luxury coastal properties, focusing on large-opening sliding glass door systems that other manufacturers can’t match.

What WinDoor does well
Sliding glass doors up to 12 feet tall with panels large enough for expansive indoor-outdoor openings. Pocket, non-pocket, and corner configurations, including 90-degree and 135-degree corner doors. Their Diamond Glass technology maintains high impact ratings at lighter weights, which matters for very large panels where handling and track load become engineering problems.
Testing and certifications
WinDoor products are AAMA, ASTM, Miami-Dade, and TDI approved. Estate Collection products achieve high design pressures and pair large openings with stainless steel hardware rated for coastal use.
Where WinDoor typically fits best
Luxury coastal homes, bayfront and Gulf-front properties with large openings, and high-end new construction where indoor-outdoor living is a design priority. Homes where the opening dimensions exceed what standard product lines can accommodate. Learn more on our WinDoor product page.
6. Euro-Wall Systems
Euro-Wall specializes in folding and multi-slide door systems that open entire walls to the outdoors. For homes where the goal is to erase the line between inside and outside, Euro-Wall is usually the right choice.
What Euro-Wall does well
The Vista Multi Slide system features an interlock sightline of less than 1 inch, resulting in minimal visual interruption when the doors are closed. Their folding and sliding systems accommodate panels up to 10 feet wide and 14 feet tall, supporting up to 8 panels in a single stack direction. Corner configurations and radius designs are available.
Testing and certifications
All Euro-Wall systems have achieved Florida Product Approval and meet requirements for High Velocity Hurricane Zones in Miami-Dade and Broward counties. They undergo TAS 201, 202, and 203 impact testing protocols. Standard finish is AAMA 2605 coating, rated for coastal conditions, including salt spray resistance.
Where Euro-Wall typically fits best
Homes designed around indoor-outdoor living, particularly bayfront and Gulf-front properties with expansive outdoor living areas. Modern architecture, where the door system is an intentional design feature rather than a functional necessity. Learn more on our Euro-Wall product page.
7. Signature Impact Entry Doors
Signature handles custom hurricane-rated entry door systems for homes where the front door is an architectural feature rather than a utility component. Their construction is mahogany-based with extensive customization capability.
What Signature does well
Custom hurricane-rated entry doors built to exact specifications. The Signature System uses an approach in which components operate independently but remain sealed from one another, with flexible silicone bonds that accommodate movement. Their SureDoor construction allows for dark colors (including black) and installations without overhangs while maintaining warranty protection.
Testing and certifications
Signature entry doors achieve design pressures up to +65/-80 PSF and can be installed up to 30 feet in the air. They are HVHZ-approved for use in Miami-Dade and Broward counties. Units can be built up to 4 feet by 10 feet for operable doors and up to 34 square feet for fixed window components.
Where Signature typically fits best
High-end coastal homes where the entry door is a design centerpiece. Custom and architect-designed homes where stock door options don’t fit the scale or style. Homes with full exterior exposure that require overhangs under other manufacturers’ warranties. Learn more on our Signature product page.
How to Decide Which Brand Fits Your Home
Choosing between these brands comes down to a few practical questions:
- What’s your exposure? Barrier island and bayfront homes need more corrosion-resistant hardware than inland homes. PGT WinGuard, WinDoor, and ESW are commonly specified for high-exposure sites.
- What’s the opening size? Very large openings push you toward WinDoor or Euro-Wall. Standard openings fit most brands.
- What’s the architectural style? Custom homes with specific design requirements often call for Kolbe, Marvin Ultimate, or Signature. More conventional architecture fits well with PGT’s broader lineup.
- What’s the project scope? Full-home replacement with many openings benefits from brands with broad product compatibility, such as PGT, ESW, or Marvin. Single focal openings (like a main entry or a back wall of sliders) may call for a specialty brand.
- What does your HOA or architectural review board require? Barrier island associations often have specific requirements about frame color, profile, or configuration that narrow the brand options.
The right brand for your home depends on all of these together, not on which brand is “best” in the abstract. That’s why we work with all seven.
Brand is only half the decision. If you’re past research and comparing options for your own house, start with our impact windows in Sarasota, FL page. It covers what we install locally and what the process looks like.
Starting Your Project
At All Glass & Windows, we help Sarasota-area homeowners compare these seven brands based on the actual openings, the actual exposure, and the actual project goals. We don’t push one brand for every home, and we don’t recommend something that doesn’t fit just because it’s what we have the most of.
If you want the local specifics first, our Sarasota impact window installation page walks through service areas, brands, and how quoting works.
Projects start with a site visit. We measure openings, assess exposure, discuss your HOA requirements, if applicable, and walk through the brand options that make sense for your specific home. Request a quote online or call 941-379-9555.
Hurricane Window Brand FAQs for Sarasota Homeowners
There isn’t a universal answer. The right brand depends on your home’s exposure, opening sizes, architectural style, and project scope. PGT is the most commonly specified for general impact projects in the Sarasota area. Marvin and Kolbe are popular for custom and architectural homes. WinDoor and Euro-Wall fit large-opening projects. ESW fits modern architecture with clean profiles. Signature handles high-end entry doors.
CGI was absorbed into the PGT portfolio in late 2025. The Sparta and Scout product lines continue under the PGT brand as Sparta by PGT and Scout by PGT. The Sentinel and Estate product lines were retired.
Yes, when installed in their approved configurations. Always request the Florida Product Approval documentation for the specific configuration being installed in your home. The rating applies to the tested configuration, not to the brand name in general.
PGT WinGuard, WinDoor, and ESW are commonly specified for high-exposure coastal sites because of their corrosion-resistant hardware, marine-grade finishes, and structural capacity for larger openings. For entry doors, Signature is often the choice on full-exposure homes because its warranty accommodates installations without overhangs.
We don’t have a single brand recommendation because the right answer depends on your home. During a site visit, we discuss which brands fit best for your exposure, openings, design goals, and budget.
