If you were quoted CGI Sparta impact windows last year, or you’re researching “CGI Sparta windows” now, the short version is this: the product still exists, but the name on it has changed. CGI was absorbed into the PGT portfolio in December 2025, and the Sparta line is now sold under the Sparta by PGT brand.
For Sarasota and St. Petersburg homeowners, that’s not bad news. The product is still available, still impact-rated for Florida conditions, and still a solid value in the impact window category. Here’s what you should know.
What Happened to CGI Sparta
CGI Impact Resistant Windows & Doors joined the PGT portfolio in late 2025. The Sparta product line moved with it, and PGT now sells it under its own brand as Sparta by PGT. Scout, another former CGI line, also transitioned to PGT.
Two former CGI lines did not survive the consolidation:
- CGI Sentinel was retired and is no longer available
- CGI Estate was retired and is no longer available
If you already have CGI Sparta products installed in your home, that’s fine. The products themselves remain the same, and PGT will handle warranty and service support going forward. For the broader picture of the CGI transition, see our CGI windows discontinued explainer.
What Sparta by PGT Actually Is
Sparta is positioned as PGT’s value-custom aluminum impact window and door line. It’s designed for homeowners who want impact protection without the cost of PGT’s premium WinGuard line, and it carries the same Florida Product Approval backing as other PGT products.
In practical terms, Sparta by PGT fits well for:
- Homeowners who want impact-rated windows at an accessible price point
- Replacement projects where budget is a priority, but storm protection is non-negotiable
- Homes in the Sarasota area and St. Petersburg, where coastal code compliance is required
The product line covers single-hung windows, horizontal rollers, fixed windows, and sliding glass doors. It’s not the line we recommend for projects that need the largest opening sizes or the most design flexibility. For those, WinGuard, WinDoor, or Euro-Wall is usually a better fit.

Sparta vs. WinGuard: The Practical Comparison
The question we get most often from homeowners who started with CGI Sparta and are now looking at their PGT options is whether to stay with Sparta or move up to WinGuard.
Both are impact-rated. Both are Florida Product Approved. The differences come down to:
- Price point: Sparta is the value line, WinGuard sits higher in the PGT lineup
- Customization: WinGuard offers more frame finishes, glass options, and configuration choices
- Opening sizes: WinGuard generally accommodates larger openings than Sparta
- Product range: WinGuard covers more window and door types
For many Sarasota area homes, Sparta is more than enough. For larger or design-driven projects, WinGuard is usually the better match. We walk homeowners through the comparison during the consultation based on the actual openings and the project goals.
Who We Typically Recommend Sparta By PGT For
In our experience serving Sarasota, Bradenton, Osprey, and St. Petersburg, Sparta tends to make the most sense in a few scenarios:
- Full-home replacement projects where the homeowner wants impact protection across every opening without overspending on premium lines
- Properties in non-barrier-island locations where the exposure is more moderate
- Rental properties, second homes, and properties where the owner wants durable impact protection without the customization of higher-end lines
For homes on Siesta Key, Longboat Key, Bird Key, or Casey Key, where salt air exposure is heaviest and architectural review is common, we often recommend WinGuard or other higher-tier options.
Where Sparta by PGT Fits in Our Product Lineup
All Glass & Windows installs PGT, ESW, WinDoor, Euro-Wall, Kolbe, Marvin, and Signature across the Sarasota area and St. Petersburg. Sparta is one of several PGT product lines we quote, alongside WinGuard, EnergyVue, ClassicVue Max, and Scout.
The right product for your home depends on your openings, exposure, budget, and design goals. We don’t push a single brand or product line for every project.

If you were originally considering CGI Sparta and want to continue with the same line under its new PGT name, we can quote Sparta by PGT for your project. If you want to compare Sparta against other PGT options or against other brands in our lineup, we can do that too.

Sparta by PGT FAQs for Sarasota and St. Petersburg Homeowners
Yes. Sparta is the same product line that was sold under the CGI name before December 2025. When CGI became part of the PGT portfolio, Sparta moved with it and is now sold under the Sparta by PGT brand.
CGI is no longer a standalone brand. The company joined the PGT portfolio in late 2025. Some former CGI product lines, including Sparta and Scout, continue to be sold under the PGT name. Others, including Sentinel and Estate, were retired.
Your warranty and service coverage transitions to PGT, and the products themselves remain the same. Hold onto your original paperwork and installation records. If you need service or parts, PGT now handles those requests.
It depends on your openings, your exposure, and your budget. Sparta is a solid value-tier impact option that works well for many Sarasota-area homes. For barrier island homes with greater salt-air exposure or for design-driven projects with large openings, we often recommend a higher PGT line, such as WinGuard.
Sparta sits at the value-custom tier of the PGT lineup. WinGuard is the premium impact line with more customization options and larger opening sizes. EnergyVue is PGT’s non-impact vinyl line. ClassicVue Max is a non-impact aluminum option. We help you compare based on your specific project.
